Whitewater Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) Level 1-4

Like Teaching others? Want to become an ACA Certified Kayak Instructor and progress your skills? This five-day course is designed for competent whitewater kayakers who want to become instructors. During this course Instructor, candidates will learn industry standards for teaching kayaking and be assessed throughout the class on Teaching Ability, Technical Ability, Technical Knowledge, and Rescue Ability. Prerequisites | 18 years of age, competent class III kayaker with a solid roll, current ACA member: Become a MEMBER or RENEW. Current ACA Safety Education & Instruction Committee  (SEIC) Dues must be paid to hold any level Instructor Certification

Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) Level 2-4

This five day course is for experienced boaters and rescuers who want to become Swift Water Rescue Instructors. Instructor candidates will be assessed on Teaching Ability, Rescue Ability, Technical Knowledge and Group Management throughout this course for a final certification level.

Prerequisites | Minimum 18 years old. Must be current ACA member: Become a MEMBER or RENEW. Current ACA Safety Education & Instruction Committee  (SEIC) Dues must be paid to hold any level Instructor Certification. Confident class III boater in whitewater discipline of choice. Participants should have taken a ACA L4 or equivalent Swiftwater Rescue Course in the past.

Kayak and Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Updates & Upgrades Level 1-4

Description: Already an ACA Instructor? You will need to complete a two day Instructor Update every four years as one of your Instructor requirements. This may also be a good time to bump up your level of certification. Whitewater Attainment can help you meet this requirement in a variety of ways. You can join in on two days of a Instructor Certification Workshop or Participate in a two day Instructor Update Course.

Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue Skills Course and Assessment

This course is for Instructors, Guides and competent boaters of any discipline. Participants can expect to learn skills in dealing with swimmers, entrapment, and pins. Proper use of throw bags, rescue vests, and other rescue gear will also be covered. Rescue skills will be applied to scenarios enacted on the water. Students will be assessed on skills learned throughout the course.

Prerequisites |  Competent class III boater with a solid roll & self-rescue skills. 
For certification, you MUST be an ACA member. Become a MEMBER or RENEW.

Swiftwater Rescue Workshop 

Starting to run harder whitewater water with your friends? This course is designed for recreational boaters of all disciplines. Participants can expect to learn about accident avoidance and proactive rescue. Rescue skills such as dealing with swimmers, entrapment, pins, proper use of throw bags, rescue vests, and other rescue gear will be covered. Rescue skills will be applied through scenarios enacted on the water.

Prerequisites | Competent class II-III boater with reliable self rescue skills.

River Safety & Rescue

Are you a new river enthusiast looking to learn some basic safety & rescue skills. This course gives a great introduction to river hazards, accident avoidance, basic self-rescue and companion rescue techniques. Guided practice time is given to try all skills on the water. All disciplines of river crafts are welcome.

Wilderness First Aid & Remote Care (Includes Red Cross CPR & AED Certificate)

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response. Topics covered will range from dealing with trauma, medical and environmental emergencies in a remote location as well as calling for help and evacuation considerations. The American Red Cross CPR and AED certificate is also included in this course.

Prerequisites | 18 years old or 14 years old with parent/guardian participating in course

Course Length | 18 Hours total - 16 Hours Wilderness First Aid & Remote Care, 2 CPR/AED Course will meet from 8:00am-6:00 PM and have a hour lunch break each day.

Certificates | Upon successful completion and evaluation participants will receive certificates for American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid & Remote Care - American Red Cross CPR and AED
